to place a stop payment on the check, contact your bank. you'll need to know the date of the check, the check number, the payee, the amount of the check, what check number replaced it, or will be replacing it, and why you want it stopped. they will charge you a fee...probably around $30, but it's worth it if you don't want it to keep haunting you.

<a href=""></a>

Place a stop payment on the check.

Also, stop payments are only good for 6 months, so you may need to place it again. Although, checks older than 6 months are considered "stale" and should not be paid anyway.

I suggest you to cancel all your checking accounts.

If you don't have a business you don´t really need a checkbook.
